Information stewardship

What happens to information when you read, prepare a message or contact the editorial desk.

Who is responsible

Summitcedarwhirl Intelligence Ltd is responsible for personal information it processes in operating summitcedarwhirl.living and handling editorial correspondence. Our registered office is 42 Alder Lane, Manchester M20 4QJ, United Kingdom, company no. 15280476. Contact [email protected] for privacy enquiries.

Reading the website

The site is a static educational publication. It does not provide reader accounts, replay uploads or a player profiling service. The supplied site code contains no advertising, behavioural analytics or third-party model calls. Technical delivery may involve hosting logs containing IP addresses, requested paths, browser information and request times for security and fault diagnosis.

Where technical logs are processed, the purpose is reliable delivery and protection against misuse, based on our legitimate interests in operating a secure website. Logs should be retained only for the operational period needed and access limited to authorised service providers and personnel.

The local message tool

Text entered on the Contact page is used in your browser to create a preview. Our script does not submit it, save it to local storage or send it to an AI service. Copying places the prepared text on your device's clipboard if you permit access. Downloading creates a text file on your device. Clipboard history, downloaded files, browser restoration and device backups are controlled by your own environment.

If you choose to send the text by email, your email provider and ours process that correspondence. Opening an email link does not itself send a message.

Correspondence you send

We may process your name, email address, message and any material you voluntarily provide to answer an enquiry, investigate a correction or handle a rights request. Ordinary editorial correspondence is handled on the basis of legitimate interests in communicating with readers and maintaining accurate content. Legal obligations may apply to particular records. Please avoid unnecessary personal or sensitive information about yourself or others.

We keep correspondence only as long as needed for its purpose, follow-up, dispute handling or applicable recordkeeping duties. Resolved routine enquiries should be reviewed for deletion within twelve months. Information supporting a published correction may be retained longer where necessary to document the editorial decision, with unnecessary personal details removed.

Recipients and transfers

Hosting and email providers may process information on our behalf under appropriate arrangements. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when legally required or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. If a provider processes information outside the United Kingdom, applicable transfer safeguards must be used where required, such as adequacy arrangements or approved contractual protections.

Browser preferences

The preferences tool on the Cookies page stores a consent choice and update timestamp locally in your browser. It does not store the contact message. The current site code does not activate optional trackers when you select Accept.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law and circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is the basis for processing, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate verification before acting on a request.

Contact us using the address above. You may also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or your relevant supervisory authority. We do not use the site to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about readers.

Changes

We update this notice when the site's processing changes. The date above identifies this version. External websites linked from our articles operate under their own privacy notices.
